The artist, Charlotte

My love for animals and nature started from a young age, growing up on a farm I was surrounded by the beauty of it all day. Since then my worldly travels and explorations have brought me to here, creating photorealistic paintings that capture the intricacies of nature and majestic beings we sometimes forget to marvel.

The Robin

This Robin holds a special place in my heart, painted as part of a collection commissioned by my stepmother, a vibrant South African woman with a love for birds. This little bird now perches eternally, its warm hues echoing the life outside her window. Each brushstroke was inspired by the birds flitting around her feeder and by my own intimate connection with Robins. Every year, one visits me around the time of my grandfather’s passing. I can’t help but feel it’s his spirit, checking in with me, singing a song of nostalgia and resilience. As I worked on this piece, a real Robin often fluttered into my studio, as if to guide me. Robins are cheeky, lively little souls, with a timeless melody that feels like home. This artwork is not just a tribute to their charm but also a deeply personal ode to love, loss, and the joy of nature.

'Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known.'
- Oscar Wilde
