THE ARTIST

Charlotte Sutton, Artist

I am a Photorealistic Artist based in London, UK and I love to create beautiful photorealistic paintings and drawings of wildlife, animals and nature. With the great detail that comes from my photorealistic art style, I capture the unique personality and spirit of my subject, which delivers an air of distinctive character.

Fine Art & Photorealism
I am a Fine Art graduate from Central Saint Martins and have had an interest in painting and creation from a young age. Upon graduating I spent time travelling and seeing the world and have only refined my focus to realism painting in the past few years. This being said, I have poured many hours into learning and purifying my practice with a humble understanding that every day provides the ability to learn and expand.
Growing up on a farm, I was able to interact with animals and nature from a very young age. I have been engrossed with flowers and insects for as long as I can remember and see my artwork as a matured version of the fascination I had with nature as a child. I have a unique eye for beauty and detail and enjoy the meditative process of creating paintings that capture the intricacies in life we tend to overlook.
Create your moment of pause
My work involves time and patience and I take huge enjoyment in the full journey of the painting. I choose to make my frames, stretch and size my canvases, and often create my own paint in order to fully immerse myself in the procedure from start to finish.

I hope that my work allows the viewer to pause for a moment and become absorbed in the stunning detail of the world we live in and to see the beauty and wonder that I feel on a daily basis.

Art encouraging coexistence

Within a world burdened by the complexities of coexistence between humans and wildlife, the pressing challenges of climate change, poaching, and habitat loss persist, yielding detrimental consequences for both realms. Through my art I extend a personal invitation, welcoming the animal kingdom into our human habitat, fostering a harmonious sanctuary where we can happily co-exist with each other. My evocative artworks aim to transcend physical boundaries, through their immersive quality, evoke profound emotions and forge an indelible bond that unites observer and observed.

I use high quality acrylic and oil paints and a specific paint layering technique to create depth and realism in her artwork. This time consuming, meditative and contemplative process allows me to immerse myself in an environment and capture its essence on canvas. Because of this I have developed a deep appreciation for the natural world and a desire to express that appreciation through my art with the aim to remind viewers of the wonder and value of the natural world, and the need to protect it.

'Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known.'
- Oscar Wilde
